Principal Hardware Security Architect, Advanced Technologies and Threat Modeling
NVIDIAJob Title
Principal Hardware Security Architect, Advanced Technologies and Threat Modeling
Role Summary
Lead the security architecture for next-generation SoCs and GPUs, focusing on emerging threats from advanced packaging, connectivity, and physical attack vectors. Collaborate with internal hardware, software, and research teams, external partners, and standards bodies to define and operationalize a platform-wide security roadmap.
Experience Level
Senior-level individual contributor; requires 15+ years of relevant work or research experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include roadmap definition, threat modeling, physical-attack mitigations, and evaluating new verification approaches.
- Define and drive a long-term platform security roadmap across hardware, software, research, and product teams.
- Research, design, and implement mitigations against physical attacks such as fault injection and side-channel attacks.
- Develop threat models for advanced packaging (2.5D/3D ICs, chiplets) and silicon photonics connectivity; assess inter-chiplet and optical-network vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate and adopt AI-assisted methods and tools to accelerate hardware vulnerability discovery, triage, and automated fuzzing.
- Review architectural and verification specifications to ensure IPs meet platform security requirements; coordinate remediation with internal teams and external partners.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by preferred qualifications.
- Must-have: Extensive experience with the ASIC design process and architecture of large SoCs or GPUs.
- Must-have: Proficiency in C/C++, Verilog, ARM assembly, and Python or Perl scripting for debugging and analysis.
- Must-have: Deep understanding of SoC security architecture, including secure/measured boot and ARM or RISC-V CPU architectures.
- Must-have: Practical experience designing mitigations for physical attacks (fault injection, side-channel) and performing threat modeling/penetration testing.
- Must-have: Familiarity with industry security frameworks and supply-chain assurance practices (e.g., OCP S.A.F.E. or similar).
- Must-have: Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-team and external engagement.
- Nice-to-have: Published research or hands-on experience securing 2.5D/3D ICs, chiplets, or SiP against supply-chain tampering and hardware Trojans.
- Nice-to-have: Expertise in security risks for silicon photonics and optoelectronic systems.
- Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI/ML for hardware vulnerability discovery, automated triage, or autonomous fuzzing.
- Nice-to-have: Active participation in standards bodies (OCP, IEEE) or a track record of related patents.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering - or equivalent practical experience.
