Principal Field Applications Engineer — PMTS, Field Application Engineering

Role Summary

Provide technical leadership and customer-facing application support to GlobalFoundries customers. Work within the Global Sales organization to identify, qualify, and secure new design wins while supporting existing accounts with technical solutions and demonstrations.

The role focuses on translating customer requirements into GF design solutions, coordinating internal resources, and driving technical closure on opportunities.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 8 years of relevant semiconductor experience (IC design, system design, or IC/system test).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop customized technical presentations, demonstrations, and proposals to support customer evaluation of GF technologies.
• Lead technology demonstrations and drive the design-win acquisition process.
• Act as the primary technical interface to assigned customers and coordinate technical sales interactions.
• Assess and communicate strengths and limitations of GF technologies internally and to customers.
• Formulate customer requirements and propose compelling GF design solutions that convey the value proposition.
• Identify gaps in product or service offerings and work with internal teams to address them.
• Collaborate with product marketing, design solutions, and technology development teams and provide real-time customer feedback.
• Monitor competitive and technology landscape to inform strategy and customer engagements.
• Ensure design issues are resolved directly or by engaging internal experts and drive closure on technical gaps that impact revenue opportunities.
• Partner with account and sales managers to support activities that lead to design-win closure.
• Perform all work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, plus relevant preferences:

• Minimum 8 years experience in semiconductor IC design, system design, or semiconductor IC/system test.
• Proven customer-facing experience and strong sales aptitude.
• Ability to develop technical proposals, presentations, and demos to drive customer adoption.
• Strong communication, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
• Significant experience with advanced-node semiconductor technologies, device characteristics, design rules, enablement flows, and tools.
• Travel: approximately 30% (ability and willingness to travel to customer sites and fabs globally is expected).
• English fluency, written and verbal.
• Nice-to-have: experience supporting RF, IoT, SiPh, and power markets.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required. Master’s degree or PhD in Electronics/Electrical Engineering is preferred.
