Principal Fab Test Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Wireless Semiconductor Division (WSD) Fab Test Engineering team in Fort Collins. Own one or several wafer-level prober/tester tool groups used for analog DC, linear and non-linear RF parametric and wafer sort measurements on MEMS and silicon-based wafers.
Ensure measurement capability, accuracy, repeatability, and production flow by specifying, qualifying and maintaining hardware and software for test systems and integrating test data with manufacturing systems.
Experience Level
Senior-level (Principal). Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience in fab/test engineering or similar roles as stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary tactical and strategic responsibilities for owned test tool sets supporting production, NPI and R&D.
- Provide technical leadership for identification, evaluation, improvement and maintenance of owned tool sets.
- Lead projects to improve availability, uptime, capacity, yield, quality and measurement capability.
- Specify, select, purchase, install, qualify and release tool components and instruments; manage vendors.
- Specify hardware system designs for turnkey or custom/semi-custom tester systems and verify measurement capability.
- Investigate Lot Incident Reports, scrap, PNM and tool interrupts; drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
- Create and maintain Tool FMEAs and robust monitoring (e.g., FDC / SECS/GEM) to detect excursions before product impact.
- Develop and implement operating and maintenance procedures, training, and certification for team members.
- Write and maintain software interfaces for equipment control and MES/data integration.
- Use SPC, DOE and statistical methods to assess measurement accuracy, precision and repeatability.
Requirements
Key technical skills and proficiencies required for this role.
- Proven experience with EG4090 and TEL probers configuration, setup and programming.
- Hands-on experience with wafer-level Analog DC, linear RF and non-linear RF measurements up to and beyond DCβ20 GHz.
- Knowledge of probe card technologies and maintenance (cantilever, vertical, GSG, pyramid, etc.).
- Software experience on Linux and Windows platforms; proficiency in Python and use of GitLab for version control and deployment.
- Component-level electrical and circuit knowledge and strong diagnostic/troubleshooting skills for process/equipment/measurement interactions.
- Experience applying structured problem-solving methodology, SPC, DOE and statistical hypothesis testing.
- Experience creating and owning PDCAs, E-TCOs and D-TCOs; familiarity with maintenance and reliability improvement techniques.
- Ability to specify and verify instrument measurement capability, accuracy, precision and repeatability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, R&D and suppliers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required. The posting specifies a minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in a similar or related role.
