Principal Enterprise AI/HPC GPU Systems Architect

Role Summary

Join the Datacenter System Architecture and Engineering team to define end-to-end product and system architecture for EPYC processors and Instinct GPUs. Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to analyze use cases and map technologies across silicon, platform hardware/software, and scale.

Provide a cohesive technical vision for server and enterprise AI/HPC GPU systems that balances performance, power, and cost across hardware, firmware, and software.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include system-level architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and driving R&D for datacenter compute designs.

  • Define server and Enterprise AI/HPC GPU product and systems architecture.
  • Architect solutions using AMD processors, Instinct GPUs, accelerators, and network components for HPC and large datacenter applications.
  • Collaborate with customers, processor/IP/SOC architects, network and I/O device architects, and software teams to define product and system requirements.
  • Analyze prioritized use cases and map requirements across silicon, platform hardware, firmware, and system software.
  • Lead research and development of next-generation datacenter compute designs to improve performance.
  • Influence product roadmaps and contribute to technology execution across datacenter products.
  • Communicate technical results clearly and drive alignment among engineering and leadership stakeholders.

Requirements

Essential skills, experience, and constraints for candidates.

  • Proven track record in server and GPU product development through architecture, design, bring-up, validation, and production support.
  • Deep technical knowledge of memory, I/O, signal integrity, power integrity, packaging, power delivery, thermal, power management, boot process, firmware, and hardware management.
  • Detailed understanding of server industry standards such as DDR, PCIe, SATA, and other high-speed I/O protocols.
  • Experience collaborating with external technology partners to jointly engineer products and establish technical credibility.
  • Ability to work across engineering disciplines and geographies and to independently drive tasks to completion.

Education Requirements

Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required; the posting specifies an engineering degree with extensive experience.
