Role Summary

GlobalFoundries in Essex, VT is seeking a Principal Engineer - Wafer Test Engineering with responsibilities for in-line electrical test on semiconductor wafers. This engineer will work a 5/2 schedule (Mon - Fri, daytime hours), working additional hours as needed. This role will be fully on-site at our 200mm Semiconductor manufacturing facility in Essex Junction, VT.

Experience Level

Mid-level: 4-5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; alternatively, 2-4 years with a Master's degree or 1-2 years with a PhD.

Responsibilities

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for in-line tests.
  • Perform product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects.
  • Drive continuous improvement to improve throughput and reduce costs.
  • Analyze electrical measurement data for root cause analysis.
  • Program to implement test protocols and handle electrical test data.
  • Develop new test programs & environments for current and next generation technologies.
  • Lead hands-on troubleshooting efforts for performance issues.
  • Assist with reconstruction and assembly of complex systems.
  • Collaborate on projects with others in the organization.

Requirements

Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related field.
  • Programming experience in Perl, C, or Python.
  • Some experience with semiconductor device physics and processing.
  • Fluency in English – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Physical capacity to adhere to cleanroom protocols.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related technical discipline is required.
