Principal Engineer, SoC Engineering
Role Summary
Senior RTL design leader responsible for driving digital subsystem architecture, requirements, and high-quality RTL through release. Collaborate closely with verification, DFT, and implementation teams to deliver scalable, first-time-right digital IP subsystems.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of direct RTL design and subsystem architecture experience on complex ASIC/SoC projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead the subsystem lifecycle from requirements and architecture definition through production release.
- Develop subsystem architecture, functional specifications, and RTL micro-architecture.
- Produce high-quality RTL and enforce design quality via linting, CDC, RDC, and formal checks.
- Partner closely with verification, DFT, and implementation teams to resolve design issues and close programs.
- Integrate standard protocols (UCIe, Ethernet, UALink, AMBA) into subsystem designs.
- Apply architectural-level low-power and DFT design methodologies.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers; lead technical reviews and maintain design excellence.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 8+ years of direct experience in RTL design and subsystem architecture for complex ASIC or SoC projects.
- Proficient RTL coding in Verilog/SystemVerilog and experience with RTL linting, CDC, RDC, and formal verification tools.
- Experience integrating standard protocols such as UCIe, Ethernet, UALink, and AMBA.
- Strong knowledge of low-power design methodologies, DFT architecture, and the ASIC design flow.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional efforts from specification through silicon.
Nice-to-have:
- Multiple successful tape-outs and demonstrated experience closing complex programs across design, verification, DFT, and implementation.
Education Requirements
Posting lists BSEE, BSCE, MSEE, MSCE, or an advanced degree. Degrees referenced imply Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related technical fields.
