Principal Engineer, RET Design
Role Summary
Member of the Advanced Mask Development team responsible for developing and optimizing RET and OPC solutions to enable high-fidelity wafer patterning for advanced memory technologies. Works with R&D and manufacturing to improve reticle solutions, tapeout methodologies, and yield.
Position may be filled at Principal, MTS, or SMTS level depending on experience and qualifications.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience in RET, OPC, lithography, or mask development.
Responsibilities
Lead technical efforts to improve lithography patterning, mask development, and manufacturing transfer while mentoring team members.
- Develop and implement RET and OPC solutions to improve pattern fidelity, manufacturability, and yield
- Optimize lithography methodologies, simulation workflows, and tapeout processes to improve performance and efficiency
- Analyze patterning issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions across R&D and manufacturing
- Lead complex mask development and lithography optimization projects; coordinate cross-functional engineering teams
- Mentor engineers, promote technical best practices, and apply AI-enabled engineering approaches
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (degree details under Education Requirements):
- 6+ years experience in RET, OPC, lithography, or mask development
- Proven experience developing and applying RET and OPC methodologies for semiconductor patterning
- Strong understanding of EUV lithography, optics, diffraction, resist behavior, and advanced patterning techniques
- Experience with lithography simulation tools such as Sentaurus Litho, ProLith, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with EDA/OPC tools (Synopsys, Siemens, Cadence, Brion)
- Programming or scripting experience (Python, Perl, TCL, C, C++)
- Semiconductor process development or manufacturing experience
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical growth
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field (the posting specifies a Bachelor’s plus 6+ years). Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
