Principal Engineer - Project Engineering Management
Role Summary
Lead project and program management for engineering efforts in the Silicon IP business, partnering with R&D, product, sales, and customer teams to define scope, plan execution, and ensure on-time delivery.
Drive cross-functional coordination for complex mixed-signal IP / SoC / ASIC development and silicon process updates, manage customer commitments, and improve project execution processes.
Experience Level
Senior - 10+ years of experience in customer-facing project or program management within an engineering environment.
Responsibilities
Own planning, tracking, and communication for complex engineering projects; represent R&D in customer engagements and coordinate cross-functional execution.
- Define project scope, requirements, schedules, resources, dependencies, and success criteria with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and track execution against milestones.
- Identify risks and issues early; drive mitigation, escalation, and resolution.
- Communicate status, milestones, and risks to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Represent R&D during customer interactions to align commitments and delivery expectations.
- Manage change requests and technical issues reported by customers, coordinating timely responses.
- Coordinate product updates related to silicon process changes, design revisions, and customer feedback.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and IP Program Management during pre‑sales and post‑sales activities.
- Ensure adherence to quality management system processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Mentor and guide team members to foster accountability and effective collaboration.
Requirements
Must-have technical and program management skills required to run customer-facing engineering programs.
- 10+ years in customer-facing project or program management roles within an engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage customer expectations and explain complex technical topics clearly.
- Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project preferred) and issue-tracking systems such as Jira.
- Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments.
- Familiarity with development processes for Mixed-Signal IP, SoC, or ASIC programs.
- Understanding of quality management system (QMS) processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience coordinating across R&D, product, sales, and customer support is preferred.
Education Requirements
Degree in Engineering or Applied Science (bachelor's or higher), or equivalent practical experience.
