Role Summary

This Principal Engineer will lead product and test engineering activities for Microchip's Penang site, focusing on test strategy, production test development, and reliability validation for semiconductor products.

Works across manufacturing, design, and quality teams to improve test coverage, yield, and time-to-market; mentors engineering staff and drives technical decisions.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and execute product test strategies and production test plans.
• Develop and validate ATE test programs and test methodologies.
• Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations to improve yield and reliability.
• Collaborate with design, process, and quality teams to implement test requirements.
• Specify and qualify test equipment and fixtures for production.
• Mentor and guide engineers and technicians; provide technical leadership.
• Support product releases and continuous improvement of test flow.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

• Extensive experience in semiconductor product/test engineering and production test development.
• Hands-on experience with ATE platforms, test program development, and test floor operations.
• Experience in failure analysis, yield improvement, and test methodology.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming for test automation (e.g., Python) and data analysis.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to lead cross-functional technical projects.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with specific semiconductor process technologies or device types relevant to Microchip's products.
• Experience with test equipment qualification and lab management.
