Job Title
Principal Engineer, Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Lead development and optimization of testability, manufacturability, and production-readiness for Intel integrated circuits. Work with design, fab, assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure high-volume manufacturability, yield, and product qualification.
Primary focus areas include ATE test flows, postsilicon debug, hardware test solutions, yield analysis, and mentoring technical staff.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting specifies advanced experience requirements; see Education Requirements for exact years-of-experience tied to degree level.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and develop advanced testability and manufacturability methodologies across the product lifecycle.
- Evaluate new product designs with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and lead cross-functional debug of functionality and performance issues.
- Drive design-for-test, debug, and manufacturability (DFT/DFD/DFM) improvements with designers.
- Develop and debug complex software for test equipment and validation vectors.
- Create and validate hardware solutions for component testing and production.
- Perform yield analysis and test-time reduction to optimize production cost and throughput.
- Collaborate with fab, assembly, and manufacturing teams to enable high-volume manufacturing ramps and product qualification.
- Define and execute technical strategies to resolve manufacturing and yield issues prior to ramp.
- Mentor and develop technical leaders within the organization.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven expertise in testability and manufacturability methodologies, including DFT, DFD, and DFM principles.
- Hands-on experience with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and related test program development.
- Proficiency in developing complex software for test equipment and validation processes.
- Experience in postsilicon debug and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Experience with yield analysis and test-time optimization.
- Ability to design/validate hardware test solutions and analyze component performance across process/design corners.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration with design, fab, assembly, and manufacturing teams.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.
Nice-to-have:
- Track record driving technical strategy and aligning teams to product milestones.
- Broad knowledge of industry trends and best practices in IC design and manufacturing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional engagement.
Education Requirements
Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 12+ years; OR Master's degree plus 8+ years; OR PhD plus 6+ years in product development engineering, integrated circuit design, or manufacturing environments.
