Principal Engineer – Process Development, Photolithography, NAND

Role Summary

Provide technical leadership for advanced photolithography development programs for NAND products, defining and executing process and equipment roadmaps to improve manufacturability, yield, and scalability. The role partners with cross-functional teams and suppliers, mentors engineers, and drives adoption of new materials, processes, and patterning schemes.

Experience Level

Senior — Principal-level role requiring substantial hands-on and leadership experience in semiconductor photolithography process development.

Responsibilities

Accountable for technical direction, roadmap delivery, and cross-functional integration of photolithography development efforts.

  • Lead photolithography process development across advanced technology nodes.
  • Define and execute photolithography process and equipment roadmaps aligned to future device requirements.
  • Drive early evaluation and adoption of innovative materials, processes, and patterning schemes.
  • Lead cross-functional development programs and influence integration and manufacturability decisions.
  • Partner with suppliers to accelerate breakthrough solutions and equipment adoption.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
  • Generate intellectual property through patents and technical publications.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into workflows to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Promote continuous improvement and share AI-enabled enhancements within scope of work.

  • Must-have technical: Proven track record defining and accomplishing photolithography process and equipment roadmaps; deep knowledge of optics, immersion lithography, polarized illumination, and low k1 imaging; advanced proficiency with lithography simulation tools, material characterization, design of experiments (DOE), statistical process control (SPC), and basic statistical data analysis.
  • Must-have soft skills: Technical leadership and influence, strategic thinking, and effective mentorship.
  • Preferred: Advanced DUV/EUV lithography experience; multi-site program leadership.

Education Requirements

PhD with ≥5 years, or Master’s with ≥7 years, or Bachelor’s with ≥10 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
