Job Title

Principal Engineer, Power Systems Engineering

Role Summary

Design and deliver system-level power solutions and reference designs using high-performance power products. Work with internal design teams, field applications engineers, and customers to define power architectures, validate hardware, and produce technical collateral that enables product adoption across multiple markets.

Hands-on role involving lab testing, troubleshooting, and occasional customer site visits to support product deployments and gather requirements.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires a minimum of 10 years of industry experience in system-level power management products and applications.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop power supply and power electronics solutions (isolated and non-isolated DC/DC, Power Conversion, Pol, multiphase controllers) for mixed-signal systems.
  • Support customer power requirements across target markets and provide application guidance for integrating ADI power products.
  • Recommend product features, topologies, and control algorithms to influence new product direction.
  • Create system-level reference designs, application notes, technical reports, and other collateral supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Perform hands-on lab testing, debugging, and system-level troubleshooting; maintain lab safety and testing discipline.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and FAEs to deliver validated power system solutions.
  • Occasional travel to customers and partner sites (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills:

  • Must-have: Strong circuit fundamentals and proven power supply design experience; detailed understanding of analog circuit design for signal chains, ADCs, and DACs.
  • Must-have: Deep knowledge of high-performance isolated and non-isolated DC/DC converters and low-voltage, high-current power applications in mixed-signal environments.
  • Must-have: Strong lab test and measurement skills and proficiency with oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum/network analyzers and similar instruments.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with software used for lab automation and data analysis (Python, LabVIEW).
  • Must-have: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and customer interaction.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with high-voltage/high-power lab safety practices, PCB layout and fabrication considerations, and electronic assembly practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required. Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) strongly preferred. Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of advanced degree.
