Job Title
Principal Engineer, Performance Analysis (Solutions Engineering)
Role Summary
Lead design and delivery of system-level performance analysis frameworks for complex silicon subsystems (IO, memory, interconnect, DSP). You will work on methodology, tooling, and reference workloads to enable accurate performance characterization across simulation, emulation, prototyping, and lab environments.
Member of the Platform Solution team collaborating with hardware, software, and partner engineering teams to drive adoption of reusable, extensible performance analysis artifacts.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 12+ years of experience in system-level software, embedded platforms, or performance engineering.
Responsibilities
You will define methodologies, build frameworks, and support correlation and bring-up across development stages. Key responsibilities include:
- Architect and lead development of performance analysis frameworks for hardware subsystems.
- Define methodologies for latency, bandwidth, throughput, utilization, and contention analysis.
- Design framework extensibility for multiple configurations and integration environments.
- Establish best practices for performance data collection, normalization, and interpretation.
- Develop performance models and reference workloads for early validation and correlation.
- Support performance bring-up and correlation across simulation, emulation, prototyping, and lab environments.
- Produce reusable, scalable collateral suitable for internal and partner adoption.
Requirements
Core technical skills and domain experience required to succeed in this role.
-
Must-have: 12+ years of experience in system-level software, embedded platforms, or performance engineering.
-
Must-have: Strong programming ability in C or C++; experience with SystemVerilog is expected for hardware-facing work.
-
Must-have: Deep understanding of embedded/system software stacks, memory hierarchies, IO subsystems, and interconnect behavior.
-
Must-have: Expertise in performance metrics, instrumentation, observability, debugging, and root-cause analysis across hardware/software boundaries.
-
Must-have: Experience with complex silicon platforms or IP-based systems and performance analysis of high-speed IOs, memory subsystems, and fabrics.
-
Must-have: Experience supporting performance analysis in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments and performing correlation/validation.
-
Nice-to-have: Python proficiency for modeling, automation, and analysis.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience developing reusable reference workloads and performance models for partner ecosystems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
