Job Title

Principal Engineer - Operations Engineering Cost and Planning

Role Summary

Lead planning, cost modeling, and operational execution for Product and Test Engineering to support New Product Introduction (NPI). Drive RFI/RFQ sizing, OpEx and CapEx estimates, and coordinate cross-functional efforts across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases to enable product qualification and production readiness.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 5+ years of experience in semiconductor Product Engineering and/or Test Engineering environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities involve cost and capacity planning, cross-functional coordination, and improving test and qualification processes.

  • Lead RFI/RFQ sizing activities for Product and Test Engineering programs.
  • Develop and maintain OpEx sizing models for engineering organizations.
  • Create CapEx estimates and planning models for probe cards, load boards, sockets, qualification hardware, and validation quantities.
  • Define probe test and final test flows for production readiness and coordinate qualification planning (pre- and post-silicon).
  • Work with sourcing and procurement to gather vendor quotations and support supplier evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Finance to build cost-per-unit models and business case analyses.
  • Participate in Technical Kick-Off meetings and drive technical action items to closure.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and standardization to reduce cost and increase scalability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Minimum 5+ years in semiconductor product engineering and/or test engineering.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing flows, NPI lifecycle, silicon qualification, and characterization.
  • Experience with probe and final test methodologies and qualification planning.
  • Hands-on experience with OSAT workflows and ATE platforms (Advantest V93K, Teradyne Uflex), probe cards, sockets, and load boards.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in highly cross-functional environments and with suppliers.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills; detail-oriented with a sense of urgency.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related field.
