Principal Engineer, NAND Process Integration
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Principal Engineer, NAND Process Integration
Role Summary
Lead process integration development for next-generation 3D NAND in Micron's Singapore R&D fab. Responsible for designing, integrating and implementing process solutions to improve yield, quality, cost and performance for assigned modules and to support transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal) level. See the Education Requirements section for degree-based years-of-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities include technical leadership of process modules, experimental design, and cross-functional delivery from R&D into manufacturing.
- Own one or more PI modules: define structural specifications and process requirements, set module direction and continual improvement plans.
- Proactively identify and resolve structural, electrical and reliability issues using model-based problem solving and process control.
- Optimize structural development, electrical performance, parametric verification, process control and manufacturability.
- Analyze materials and drive selection and material changes from research into production.
- Design, execute and analyze device/process experiments; evaluate statistical significance and report conclusions.
- Lead and coordinate development teams (process engineers and cross-functional partners); set goals, metrics and make key decisions.
- Coordinate reticle tapeouts, flow changes, lot management and other cross-functional activities to enable timely projects.
- Support technology transfer from R&D to high-volume manufacturing and enable low-error production ramp.
- Drive innovation and IP creation (regular patent disclosures expected).
- Integrate AI-enabled tools and digital methods to improve work efficiency, ensuring responsible use and compliance with standards.
Requirements
Core skills and experience required or strongly preferred for success in this role.
- Must have: Proven R&D and technology-transfer experience in the semiconductor industry and demonstrated process-integration/problem-solving skills.
- Must have: Strong data-analysis capability and experience applying statistical methods to experiments and process control.
- Must have: Effective communicator with ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams and lead technical decisions.
- Must have: Self-motivated, able to work in a demanding, dynamic environment and drive continual improvement.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: In-depth knowledge of NAND (non-volatile memory) process flow, device interactions, yield and reliability issues.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with scripting/programming and analytics tools (for example Python, SolidWorks, Tableau, Power BI) to support data analysis and automation.
- Preferred / Nice-to-have: Track record of innovation and patent generation.
Education Requirements
Degree and years-of-experience guidance: PhD with ≥5 years, Master’s with ≥7 years, or Bachelor’s with ≥10 years in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field with semiconductor industry experience.
