Job Title
Principal Engineer - IP Verification
Role Summary
Individual contributor responsible for delivering first-pass silicon success for complex IPs, with emphasis on Vision/Image Processing and other subsystem IPs. Work closely with Systems, Design, DFT, Mixed-Signal and cross-site teams to plan and execute verification across IP, subsystem and system levels.
Use simulation, hardware modeling, formal verification and participate in pre- and post-silicon validation to ensure robust, production-ready IPs.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10β15 years of experience in IP / subsystem verification.
Responsibilities
Primary accountabilities include ownership of verification quality, methodology deployment, and hands-on verification execution.
- Evaluate and deploy verification methodologies appropriate for complex IP/subsystem designs and aggressive schedules.
- Own verification quality during all project stages and implement process improvements to reduce defects.
- Develop testplans and testbenches to ensure functional and performance coverage and feature traceability.
- Perform simulation, debug, formal checks, and gate-level verification as required.
- Collaborate with local and remote teams (Systems, Design, DFT, Mixed-Signal) and contribute to pre/post-silicon validation efforts.
- Mentor or influence verification methodology adoption within the team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and proven experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of IP/subsystem verification experience on multi-million-gate, multi-clock designs; proven end-to-end IP verification delivery.
- Testbench and testplan development experience with feature traceability and regression management.
- Strong working knowledge of HVLs and methodologies (UVM, SystemVerilog, C++), HDLs (Verilog, VHDL), and DPI/PLI.
- Experience with mainstream simulators (e.g., NCSim, VCS, ModelSim, Questa) and simulation debug workflows.
- Experience with formal verification, SVA/assertions, functional coverage and gate-level simulation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with microcontroller/ARM-based architectures and protocols (AHB/AMBA, AXI), memory technologies and controllers.
- Domain experience in automotive graphics/vision accelerators, serial IP controllers, or networking protocols such as Ethernet.
- Exposure to pre-silicon validation/emulation and ability to drive verification methodology evolution.
Education Requirements
