Principal Engineer - IP Verification

Role Summary

Individual contributor responsible for planning and executing functional verification of complex IPs and subsystems to achieve first-pass silicon success. Works with Systems, Design, DFT, Mixed-Signal and cross-site teams to deliver verification sign-off using simulation, hardware modeling, formal methods and pre/post-silicon validation.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10–15 years of relevant IP/subsystem verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining verification strategy, executing verification activities, and improving processes to ensure high-quality IP delivery.

• Define and deploy verification methodologies for complex IPs/subsystems to meet aggressive schedule targets.
• Develop and own verification plans, testbenches, testcases and regression environments to ensure feature traceability and performance verification.
• Perform simulation, formal verification, and hardware-model-based validation; participate in pre- and post-silicon validation activities.
• Analyze existing processes and implement improvements to reduce defects and improve quality.
• Drive technical innovation and mentor/influence engineering practices across local and remote teams.
• Collaborate with Systems, Design, DFT, Mixed-Signal and other stakeholders to resolve verification issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

• Must-have: 10–15 years of IP/subsystem verification on multimillion-gate, multi-clock designs.
• Must-have: Testplan and testbench development experience, including end-to-end IP verification, simulation debug and regression management.
• Must-have: Strong experience with HVLs and methodologies (UVM, SystemVerilog, C++), HDLs (Verilog, VHDL), PLI/DPI and mainstream simulators (NCSim, VCS, ModelSim, Questa).
• Must-have: Experience with microcontroller and ARM-based architectures and protocols (AHB/AMBA, AXI), memories (Flash, SRAM, DDR) and memory controllers.
• Must-have: Familiarity with assertions/SVA, functional coverage, gate-level simulation and formal verification concepts.
• Nice-to-have: Domain experience in automotive graphics/vision accelerators, high/slow-speed serial IP controllers, or networking protocols (e.g., Ethernet).
• Nice-to-have: Exposure to pre-silicon validation, emulation and hardware platforms.
