Role Summary

Perform semiconductor engineering design, development, and testing for system-on-chip (SoC) products, focusing on power, performance, and thermal optimization across process technologies and market segments. Responsible for device-to-architecture optimizations, hardware/software co-design, and developing methodologies for system resource control and energy management.

Collaborate with product, performance, thermal, and system teams to identify energy-optimization opportunities, experiment with EDA tools, automate trade-off analysis, and prototype new system solutions. NXP is an equal opportunity employer.

Senior — minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience (per job qualifications).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and test SoC devices and silicon components across multiple process technologies and market segments.
• Perform device-to-architecture optimizations and hardware/software co-design to meet power, performance, and thermal targets.
• Research and develop methodologies, architectures, and infrastructure for system-level energy management.
• Identify and implement energy-reduction techniques for CPU, GPU, camera, DDR, and ML accelerators at core and SoC levels.
• Evaluate and adopt new EDA tools; develop automation for system trade-off analysis and design flows.
• Collaborate with performance, thermal, and system teams to analyze workloads and use cases and to prototype solutions.
• Contribute to pre-silicon validation, test-chip activities, and prototype development as required.

Requirements

Minimum requirements and technical skills:

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Staff Design Engineer role or related occupation.
• Familiarity with device modeling and related models (NLDM, AOCV, CCS, ECSM, LVF).
• Practical experience with Cadence IC Design Suite, Innovus, and Synopsys PrimeTime.
• Scripting experience (TCL, Perl) for automation and tooling.
• Experience with time and test-chip blocks and test-chip flow.
• Strong background in physical design, synthesis, and physical verification.
• Experience with place-and-route and floorplanning for complex SoCs.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, foreign equivalent, or a related field.
