Job Title

Principal Engineer, Design Verification Engineering

Role Summary

Lead verification engineering for mixed-signal power controller (PWC) ICs within the Power Controller Design team. Drive verification strategy, execution, and sign-off from architecture through silicon bring-up.

Work cross-functionally with analog, digital, and system architects and with design evaluation and applications teams to ensure tape-out readiness and correlate simulation to lab results.

Experience Level

Senior β€” role expects an experienced engineer. Minimum qualifications indicate approximately 12+ years of relevant IC design verification experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities, leading reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

  • Define and own end-to-end verification plans, test strategy, stimulus, checkers, and sign-off criteria aligned to product requirements.
  • Develop and review SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches for digital and mixed-signal verification using constrained-random stimulus and self-checking methodologies.
  • Drive coverage methodology and closure for functional, code, and assertion coverage; ensure verification completeness for tape-out readiness.
  • Champion best-practice sign-off: GLS, LINT, CDC/RDC, reset/X-prop, SVA assertions, and formal/semi-formal where applicable.
  • Lead AMS verification using behavioral models (e.g., Verilog-AMS/real-number models) and mixed-signal co-simulation to validate control loops and system interactions.
  • Build and maintain regression infrastructure, automation, dashboards, and CI practices to improve quality and turnaround time.
  • Support silicon bring-up and lab correlation; root-cause issues and feed learnings back into verification and design.
  • Lead verification reviews, communicate status and quality metrics, and align cross-team priorities and schedules.
  • Mentor and develop verification engineers; establish coding/review standards and reusable verification IP.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and technical requirements for successful performance.

Must-have:

  • 12+ years of relevant IC design verification experience, with technical leadership delivering verification for multiple ICs from concept through tape-out.
  • Hands-on expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM, constrained-random verification, self-checking testbenches, and debug/triage of complex failures.
  • Proven ability to own verification plans and drive sign-off readiness using coverage-driven methodologies.
  • Experience with verification sign-off practices: coverage closure, assertions (SVA), LINT, CDC/RDC, and formal/semi-formal techniques.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Tcl, shell, Make) to build and maintain regressions and CI pipelines.
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring engineers, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders through technical communication and reviews.
  • Willingness to travel globally up to ~10%.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with industry simulators and debug tools (e.g., Xcelium, VCS, Questa) and waveform analysis.
  • Experience with AMS verification techniques, real-number models, and mixed-signal co-simulation.
  • Domain knowledge of integrated power management (buck/boost converters, control loops, fault protection).
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to support verification tasks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (BSEE/BSCS) or equivalent professional experience is indicated. Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is a plus. The posting explicitly allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree.
