Principal Engineer, Design Verification

Role Summary

Lead verification efforts for storage-related IP and complex digital designs, focusing on read channels, high-performance processors, transceivers, analog interfaces, and cryptographic engines used in HDD and SSD electronics.

Work within the Design Verification team to define verification plans, build and maintain testbenches, and collaborate with design and architecture teams to ensure functional and performance correctness.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement verification plans for read-channel and storage IP designs.
• Create, extend, and maintain verification testbenches using industry-standard methodologies.
• Perform functional and performance verification and regression testing on complex digital designs.
• Analyze and debug simulation failures; produce detailed verification reports.
• Collaborate with design and architecture teams to identify and resolve design issues.
• Mentor and guide junior verification engineers.

Requirements

Required technical skills and qualifications (degree details are summarized separately under Education Requirements):

Must-have:

• Proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM.
• Scripting experience (Python, Perl, or similar).
• Strong understanding of ASIC design flow, digital design, and verification methodologies.
• Experience with industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics).
• Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and DSP modeling in C/C++.
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English and effective communication skills.
• May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates may be subject to export license review.

Preferred:

• Experience with high-speed DSP design verification.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
