Principal Engineer, ASIC Validation
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Principal Engineer, ASIC Validation
Role Summary
Lead ASIC validation for SoC pre-silicon platforms, with ownership of FPGA prototyping and hardware emulation flows. Work closely with SoC design, C/FW, AE and verification teams to plan and execute validation for high-speed subsystems (PCIe, LPDDR, ONFI).
Experience Level
Senior level - requires substantial experience; the posting specifies a minimum of 12+ years of processor-based SoC and hands-on ZEBU implementation experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on development, integration and debug of pre-silicon validation platforms and coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Own SOC deployment and validation on pre-silicon emulation platforms (ZEBU) and FPGA prototypes.
- Execute Xilinx FPGA flows (Vivado, ProtoCompiler) and FPGA-based bring-up and debug.
- Develop and run processor-based SoC prototyping and emulation using C/FW/AE flows.
- Review and create SoC verification/validation plans for PCIe, LPDDR, ONFI subsystems.
- Run SOC C-based simulations and debug with tools such as VCS.
- Perform root-cause analysis across hardware and RTL layers; write or modify Verilog RTL as needed for validation.
- Collaborate with overseas teams for interface bring-up and debug (e.g., PCIe/LP).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and preferred qualifications.
- Must have: Hands-on ZEBU emulation experience and practical Xilinx FPGA debug skills (Chipscope/Vivado).
- Must have: Strong Verilog coding and RTL debug skills.
- Must have: Experience with processor-based SoC validation and tooling; ability to run and debug C-based tests.
- Proven scripting ability (Python, Perl, TCL) for automation and validation harnesses.
- Experience with hardware emulation platforms (HAPS, Palladium) is preferred; HAPS/ZEBU/Palladium knowledge advantageous.
- Good understanding of PCIe, NVMe, LPDDR, ONFI or similar interfaces.
- Strong written and verbal communication and effective cross-functional teamwork skills; professional conduct and positive attitude.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve productivity is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
