Principal Engineer, AI Applied Research
Role Summary

Responsibilities
Deliver applied AI research, technical leadership, and production transitions for models and methods that solve business-critical problems.
- Design and implement machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, NLP, computer vision, and time-series models for applied use cases.
- Perform literature reviews, technical assessments, and foundational research to inform strategy and model choices.
- Develop proofs-of-concept and drive their transition to production-ready solutions, including deployment and monitoring considerations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and researchers; build collaborative research communities.
- Align technical strategies with organizational goals and define approaches to deliver impactful AI solutions.
- Communicate research findings and technical decisions to diverse stakeholders with clear documentation.
Requirements
Key technical and professional requirements for success in this role.
Must-have:- 3+ years experience in power and performance prediction of IPs, preferably memory and logic foundational IPs.
- 3+ years of proficiency in Python and advanced programming applied to AI/ML model development.
- 5+ years of practical experience in AI fundamentals: ML, deep learning, RL, NLP, computer vision, or time-series prediction.
- 5+ years of experience in algorithm R&D, ML model evaluation, training, monitoring, and deployment.
- Proven ability to prototype and produce proof-of-concept designs and apply systems thinking to complex problems.
- Ability to communicate technical results clearly and create effective technical documentation.
- Must be able to consent to and pass an extended background investigation (Position of Trust).
- Experience with design and technology co-optimization.
- Track record of mentoring technical leaders and building collaborative research communities.
- Experience aligning technical strategies with business goals and driving execution.
- Working knowledge of developing AI agents and systems-level prototyping.
- Demonstrated ability to convert exploratory ideas into measurable business impact.
Education Requirements
