Principal Electrical Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the design, integration, test, and production of complex military electronics for the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions team in Austin, TX. Role spans capture, development, prototyping, production, and sustainment for electronic warfare products.

Senior β€” 6+ years relevant experience (4+ years with an MS in engineering).

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across hardware development lifecycle and ensure performance, quality, and reliability of electronic systems.

  • Design and troubleshoot digital, analog, mixed-signal, and power CCAs for military/avionics equipment.
  • Lead electrical engineering design, integration, verification, and production activities.
  • Develop architectures using embedded processors, microcontrollers, and VHDL-based FPGAs/SoCs.
  • Create and execute test plans; integrate test solutions and report results.
  • Participate in requirements development, technical trade studies, and technology insertion.
  • Support new business capture and risk-reduction prototyping.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and clearance eligibility; preferred items listed separately.

  • 6+ years designing, testing, and troubleshooting high-reliability embedded systems (4+ years with an MS).
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical principles, test methodologies, and use of advanced test equipment.
  • Experience designing mixed-signal CCAs and hands-on laboratory/instrumentation experience.
  • Eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance; ability to work on controlled programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with requirements-driven design and verification.

Nice-to-have / Preferred

  • FPGA design experience (VHDL); familiarity with DDR, QSPI, PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204, I2C, JTAG, MIL-STD-1553.
  • Power supply (DC-DC) design experience and mixed-signal interface standards.
  • Experience with Cadence tools, PCB/rigid-flex design, and manufacturing standards for multilayer CCAs.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, LRIP/FRP processes, and AS9145-compliant processes.
  • Control account management, Agile hardware development, and strong written/verbal communication.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required. Candidates typically have 6+ years of relevant engineering experience, or 4+ years with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance is required; active DoD clearance is listed as preferred.
