Principal EDA Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical strategy and hands-on delivery for global engineering compute and design-data-management environments, focusing on Perforce/IPLM, Linux-based CAD infrastructure, automation, and support for distributed semiconductor design teams.

Collaborate with engineering, CAD and IT/IS to develop scalable, documented, and supportable solutions for compute, storage, project workflows and design-data lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

Responsible for architecture, implementation and support of engineering compute, CAD environments and design-data-management across global teams.

• Lead compute infrastructure design and Linux-based engineering environments; define requirements for compute and storage.
• Provide technical ownership of Perforce Helix and IPLM-based design-data-management and integrations with EDA tools.
• Develop IP versioning, release, reuse and lifecycle methodologies for analog and digital flows.
• Define and support standardized project and workspace configurations, EDA tool setups and onboarding processes.
• Implement automation and scripting (Python/shell) to reduce manual setup and improve reliability.
• Plan and execute migration of legacy data and environments to Perforce/IPLM-based solutions, maintaining transition support.
• Produce technical documentation, deliver training, and provide expert escalation support.
• Contribute to technical roadmap and evaluate technologies for scalable, maintainable engineering environments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• Significant experience in EDA/CAD engineering, semiconductor design infrastructure or engineering compute environments.
• Strong Linux/Unix knowledge and experience with large-scale Linux compute environments.
• Experience with Perforce Helix (P4) or comparable enterprise version-control/data-management systems.
• Methodics IPLM or equivalent IP lifecycle-management experience.
• Experience with semiconductor EDA workflows and supporting complex engineering project environments.
• Proficient in Python and/or shell scripting; strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience working across engineering and IT/IS organisations; strong documentation and technical communication skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Perforce administration and architecture experience.
• Cadence/Virtuoso knowledge and familiarity with analog and digital flows.
• Experience migrating from legacy DM platforms (DesignSync, Cliosoft, etc.).
• Experience developing CAD methodologies and delivering technical training.
