Principal Digital Hardware Engineer (PCBs / FPGAs / HDL)
Role Summary
Technical lead for electrical engineering responsible for designing embedded compute and FPGA-based systems for vehicle management, DSP, and networking. Own the PCB development lifecycle for FPGA/SoC/SoM host boards and improve FPGA/HDL workflows to enable scalable deployment across the organization.

Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, hardware delivery, and cross-functional coordination.
- Lead an electrical engineering team focused on digital design and embedded compute solutions.
- Own full PCB development cycle for FPGA/SoC/SoM host boards: requirements, schematic capture, board layout, bring-up, test, and integration.
- Develop and improve FPGA/HDL design workflows: architecture, functional block definition, simulation, system testing, and HDL library standardization.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define scalable strategies for rolling out compute solutions across the company.
- Create, maintain, and communicate product development schedules; ensure assigned personnel understand tasks and deadlines.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience. Preferred items listed separately.
- 15+ years designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs in military, automotive, or similar environments.
- Proven experience leading an electrical engineering team focused on digital design.
- Proficiency in HDL languages (VHDL, Verilog).
- Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, and FPGA devices and technologies.
- Experience with standard interfaces: Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB.
- Experience in design for signal integrity and power integrity.
- Knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits and competence with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current probes) and test automation.
- Proficient with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Nice-to-have:
- Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461.
- Expertise in computer networking and implementing enhanced security measures.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
