Principal DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Lead end-to-end DFT execution for advanced SoC/MCU projects, owning test architecture through silicon bring-up and production test enablement. Work cross-functionally with Design, Verification, Physical Design, and Test teams and provide technical leadership and mentoring.

Experience Level

Senior — 15+ years of hands-on DFT experience delivering multiple SoCs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining strategy, implementing DFT flows, and driving silicon and production test activities.

• Define SoC-level DFT architecture and test strategy (Scan, ATPG, MBIST, LBIST, JTAG/IJTAG, SSN, test compression).
• Own the full DFT flow: test architecture, RTL design & integration, DFT verification, scan insertion, ATPG, coverage closure, and signoff.
• Drive silicon bring-up, debug, diagnosis, and yield improvement efforts.
• Enable production test and test deployment for manufacturing.
• Develop and deploy scalable DFT methodologies, automation frameworks, and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate DFT into the design cycle.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and influence global teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and professional capabilities.

• Deep, practical experience across the complete DFT lifecycle and proven delivery on multiple SoCs.
• Expertise in scan insertion, ATPG, MBIST/LBIST, JTAG/IJTAG, SSN, and test compression techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Tessent, Genus/Fusion Compiler, VCS/Xcelium, Conformal/Formality.
• Strong automation and scripting skills (Python, TCL, Perl, or Shell).
• Experience with GLS and signoff processes; ability to close coverage and achieve signoff criteria.
• Proven track record in silicon bring-up, debug, diagnosis, and yield/improvement activities.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, ownership, and ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

B.E./B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech., or Ph.D. in Electronics or a related field (as stated in the posting).
