Job Title

Principal DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Lead DFT architecture, verification, and post-silicon validation for complex ASICs. Own test designs and collaborate across RTL, STA, P&R, power, and bring-up teams; provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior. See Education Requirements for formal years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement test access mechanisms, IO BIST, memory BIST, and scan compression.
  • Develop and deploy DFT methodologies for next-generation products.
  • Collaborate with RTL, clock design, STA, place-and-route, and power teams to balance testability, cost, and quality.
  • Support silicon debug and bring-up on ATE; handle pattern formats, failure analysis, and test program development.
  • Mentor and review work of junior test engineers; provide technical leadership on test strategy and trade-offs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Expertise in defining scan test plans, BIST for memories and IOs, fault modeling, ATPG, and fault simulation.
  • Proven ability to verify and validate test patterns and logic on multi-million-gate designs using vendor tools.
  • Experience with silicon debug, ATE patterns and failure processing, and test program development.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration with RTL, clock, STA, place-and-route, and power engineering.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical ability.
  • Nice-to-have: programming or scripting skills in Perl, Python, or Tcl.
