Principal Design Evaluation Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Consumer Custom Silicon (CSS) team to develop measurement solutions and evaluate new analog/digital silicon products used in sensing and signal‑processing applications. The role partners with Design, Applications and Test teams to verify product performance, improve measurement accuracy, and reduce evaluation time.
Experience Level
Senior - requires extensive experience; the posting requests 15+ years in an engineering measurement role.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on building evaluation capability and performing detailed product verification.
- Define and plan tests required to evaluate new silicon with Design, Design Evaluation, Applications and Test teams.
- Develop hardware and software evaluation capabilities for new products.
- Execute test plans on new silicon, perform post‑processing and root‑cause analysis, and produce technical reports.
- Identify functional and performance limitations and drive corrective actions.
- Develop new measurement solutions and methodologies to improve accuracy and throughput.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics and measurement techniques.
- Proven experience developing test hardware and automation (hardware + software integration).
- Strong programming skills in Python or a similar language for test automation and data analysis.
- Experience with PCB design and layout related to measurement/test fixtures.
- Able to analyze measurement results, determine root causes, and document findings clearly.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, coordination and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
- Nice-to-have: experience with power testing methodologies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
