Job Title
Principal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Lattice's hardware design team in Pune as a Principal engineer focused on IP design and full-chip FPGA integration. You will lead subsystem and logic design, define micro-architecture and specifications, and work with cross-functional teams to meet performance, power, and area targets.
The role requires mentoring engineers, collaborating with architecture, validation, package, and program management teams, and driving design quality across distributed sites.
Experience Level
Senior β requires approximately 16+ years of relevant experience driving logic design across multiple silicon projects.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of FPGA/SoC subsystem design and program coordination.
- Lead design and development of complex FPGA/SoC components to meet performance, power, and area goals.
- Define micro-architecture and design specifications; select and integrate third-party IP.
- Drive subsystem and full-chip logic design using best-known methodologies to improve quality and accelerate schedules.
- Conduct design reviews, audits, and ensure design quality and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with architecture, validation (pre/post-silicon), package design, and program management teams.
- Provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, and transfer knowledge across distributed teams and time zones.
- Participate in continuous improvement and stay current with industry trends; occasional travel as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- Extensive experience driving logic design across multiple silicon projects.
- Proven SoC integration experience and experience defining micro-architecture.
- Experience selecting and integrating third-party IP.
- Expertise with ARM processors and interconnects (AXI/AMBA) and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, USB).
- Familiarity with safety and security protocols and debug architecture.
- Experience leading projects through the full design cycle and coordinating across organizations and time zones.
- Strong communication skills and experience conducting design reviews and audits.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with FPGA architectures, use-cases, and programmable fabric design considerations.
