Role Summary
Lead design-enablement activities for photonic PDKs, focusing on device design, fabrication support, characterization and documentation. Work within a multidisciplinary team of photonics and fabrication engineers to deliver application-oriented PDK components and technical support to internal stakeholders and customers.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and support for silicon photonics devices and PDK development.
- Design and optimize silicon photonic passive and active devices (e.g., balanced and high-speed photodetectors) for PDK integration.
- Independently perform device characterization, analyze results, and produce technical documentation.
- Provide technical support for PDK-related inquiries and customer questionnaires.
- Manage project activities across design, fabrication, and testing phases and coordinate with FAB teams.
- Prepare and file patents to protect company intellectual property for silicon photonics devices.
- Adhere to and promote Environmental, Health, Safety & Security policies during all activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet project goals and timelines.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities. Preferred items noted separately.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of optical science and photonics technology.
- Experience with device characterization and analysis of photonic chip devices.
- Ability to document experimental results and produce clear technical reports.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ownership, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and drive experimental projects to completion.
Preferred:
- Practical knowledge of electrical and optical measurement of optical chip devices and systems.
- Creative problem-solving, strategic experimental planning, and patent-writing experience.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. in photonics, electrical engineering, physics, or a closely related field is required.
