Job Title
Principal Design AI Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design automation and AI-enabled workflows for NAND analog/core circuit development within the NVE Design Engineering organization. The role combines deep analog circuit expertise with software, methodology, and infrastructure leadership to accelerate design execution, improve reproducibility, and reduce friction across global teams.
Experience Level
Senior — requires extensive industry experience; posting indicates 8+ years of NAND design–relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include owning automation strategy, developing AI-assisted flows, and integrating tooling into project execution.
- Define and evolve circuit design automation strategy and roadmap for NAND analog/core development.
- Design and deliver AI/LLM-assisted agentic enablement (environment setup, guided simulation and debug, knowledge retrieval, documentation synthesis).
- Develop Python-based automation frameworks that integrate with EDA tools for batch/distributed corner execution, regression orchestration, data extraction, and reporting.
- Architect and standardize verification methodologies for block, subsystem, and full-chip analog/mixed-signal flows, including reproducible run recipes and regression gating.
- Act as a technical authority resolving complex issues at the intersection of circuit behavior, modeling, simulation methodology, and automation reliability.
- Define and enforce quality practices for automation (testing, CI/CD where applicable, coding standards, version control, release notes).
- Partner with circuit designers, firmware, validation, and architecture teams to align tooling with project goals and reduce cycle time.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation for environments, methodologies, and tooling to reduce tribal knowledge and improve onboarding.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain expertise.
- Proven proficiency in analog/mixed-signal circuit design (page buffers, block selectors, X/Y decoders, biasing, PDNs, level shifters, charge pumps, op amps, DACs, ADCs, linear regulators, oscillators, bandgaps, IO buffers, RTL/Verilog).
- Strong fundamentals in semiconductor/device physics and familiarity with reliability issues (CHC, NBTI, stress, snapback) and physical effects such as electro-migration and IR.
- Experience with circuit verification and optimization, layout planning, parasitic extraction, and providing layout guidance.
- Proficient Python development for engineering automation, including maintainable scripts/libraries that interface with EDA tools for simulation control, data extraction, regression management, and reporting.
- Hands-on experience with Cadence design flows, LVS/DRC tools, and UNIX environments.
- Deep understanding of verification flows: block, subsystem, full-chip simulations, corner management, PVT/mismatch analysis, and results qualification.
- Familiarity with analog/digital simulators such as HSPICE, Fast SPICE, and Verilog-based flows.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across circuit behavior, modeling, simulation convergence, tooling failures, and automation infrastructure.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience developing AI/LLM-assisted or agentic design flows, automated signoff readiness reporting, dashboards, or distributed regression orchestration.
- Experience with CI/CD practices for engineering tools and automation frameworks, and with QA metrics and audit trails for tooling.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required; PhD preferred. (This posting specifies an advanced degree in electrical engineering.)
