Principal Debug Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead for system- and silicon-level debug of AMD EPYC Server and AMD Instinct products within the post-silicon validation organization. Drive debug strategy, root-cause resolution, and improvements to debug methodology to meet product milestones and POR quality.
Work cross-functionally with system architects, IP/SoC design, firmware, software, manufacturing, and global teams. Role based in Austin, TX or Secaucus, NJ; not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading debug efforts, managing technical risks, and improving debugging throughput.
- Lead system and silicon debug during silicon bring-up, system validation, and production phases.
- Drive complex root-cause analysis and coordinate cross-team resolution (SoC, FW, SW, BIOS, manufacturing).
- Manage and track technical issues, risks, priorities, and program milestones; publish debug program indicators.
- Manage communications with customers and executives on status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Develop and drive improvements to debug methodology, tools, scripts, and automation to increase throughput.
- Participate in technical initiatives to enhance triage, debug processes, and validation strategy.
- Coordinate work across multiple teams and time zones to meet tight deadlines.

- Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience debugging OS, firmware, silicon, and hardware interactions at platform/system level.
- Must-have: Deep knowledge of system architecture, SoC design, x86 architecture, memory subsystems, RAS, and power management.
- Must-have: Familiarity with industry-standard buses and their software stacks (for example PCIe, CXL).
- Must-have: Strong experience with platform-level interactions: operating systems, device drivers, and system BIOS.
- Must-have: Excellent communication, coordination, and program-management skills; ability to prioritize multiple work streams.
- Must-have: Self-starter who can independently drive tasks to completion and work effectively in a global team.
- Nice-to-have: Experience developing debug tools, scripts, and automation to improve debug throughput.
- Nice-to-have: Thorough understanding of datacenter technologies and their software stacks; experience interacting with customers and executives.
Education Requirements
