Principal Customer Training Engineer, Electronic Design Automation

Role Summary

Deliver and develop training for Siemens EDA logic design verification and emulation products to deepen customer knowledge, strengthen practical skills, and drive product adoption. Work with cross-functional experts to create instructor-led and self-paced courseware, labs, videos, and assessments.

Role focuses on customer-facing training delivery, content creation, and continuous improvement of training materials for verification workflows.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in IC design verification, applications, or product engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Plan, author, and maintain training content for live instructor-led classes and self-paced materials (lectures, labs, videos, assessments).
  • Deliver technical training and presentations to customers in-person and online.
  • Create hands-on labs and exercises that reinforce verification and emulation use cases and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product, support, and engineering teams to ensure materials reflect current product functionality and customer needs.
  • Assess learner outcomes and iterate on materials to improve effectiveness and adoption.
  • Support customer engagements, respond to technical questions, and tailor training to customer environments.
  • Travel to customer sites and events as required (up to ~40% annually, including international travel).

Requirements

Must-have:

  • 7+ years of experience in the IC design verification technology space (verification engineer, applications engineer, customer training engineer, product engineer, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with HDLs and verification methodologies (SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, UVM).
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Tcl, Python, Linux shell scripting).
  • Working knowledge of Linux, and experience with C or C++.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills in technical settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • US Citizenship required; position based in the USA (fully remote) and requires travel up to 40% per year.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with emulation technology and the ability to become proficient in emulation workflows.
  • Familiarity with formal verification methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with Functional Safety standards and tools.
  • Prior experience developing multimedia training materials (labs, videos, quizzes, exams) and delivering them to customers.
  • Prior experience with Siemens EDA products (QuestaSim, Visualizer, Veloce Emulation, Verification IPs, Formal verification).

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) required.
