Job Title

Principal CPU Power Architect

Role Summary

Senior technical lead on NVIDIA's CPU architecture team responsible for power architecture, methodology, and cross-discipline implementation for server and accelerator CPU products.

Work at the intersection of architecture, RTL, and physical design to optimize power delivery, gating, di/dt, thermal behavior, and packaging trade-offs for custom CPU cores.

Senior β€” typically 15+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership across architecture, implementation, and physical design to achieve power and efficiency targets.

  • Bridge architecture, RTL implementation, and physical design teams to deliver power-optimized CPU designs.
  • Act as subject-matter expert on power delivery, regulators, power gating, di/dt, and thermal throttling.
  • Analyze power trade-offs for die stacking, packaging, and system-level proposals.
  • Define and drive improvements to power methodology for custom CPU cores and related toolflows.
  • Collaborate with system, packaging, and chip-design teams to meet performance-per-watt targets.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed as such.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in CPU or SoC design and architecture.
  • Extensive background in CPU architecture and power/efficiency analysis.
  • Strong understanding of power consumption, power-efficiency concepts, and low-power techniques spanning software, architecture, RTL, VLSI, and process.
  • Experience with RTL development and verification flows.
  • Detailed understanding of process technologies and circuit design.
  • (Nice-to-have) PhD or research experience in relevant area.
  • (Nice-to-have) Advanced knowledge of physical design and packaging technologies.
  • (Nice-to-have) Experience with GPU, SoC design, or advanced packaging technologies.
  • (Nice-to-have) Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. PhD or research experience is a plus. Equivalent industry experience accepted where specified.
