Role Summary

Lead design and implementation of LLVM-based compiler features and optimizations for AMD GPU architectures, focusing on improving performance for machine learning and HPC workloads. Collaborate with architecture teams, product groups, and application owners to deliver measurable performance improvements.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Drive compiler optimization efforts in collaboration with AMD architecture specialists.
• Design and implement language and backend optimizations within the LLVM framework.
• Use data-driven analysis to prioritize and measure performance improvements.
• Integrate compiler improvements with machine learning frameworks and HPC applications.
• Participate in ASIC and hardware bring-ups; debug and resolve hardware/software integration issues.
• Research and prototype alternative implementations to improve compiler efficiency.
• Develop and maintain technical relationships with internal teams and external partners.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

• Extensive experience with compiler development, especially the LLVM codebase.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills and software engineering practices.
• Good understanding of GPU execution models and architecture.
• Experience with performance analysis, debugging, and profiling tools.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and/or Android development environments.
• Effective communication, leadership, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Nice-to-have: concurrent/threaded programming, experience with ML frameworks and HPC applications, open-source contributions (e.g., LLVM), and familiarity with source control and development tooling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
