Principal ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Technical lead for ASIC/SoC verification delivering verification architectures, methodologies, and reviews across multiple projects within the Global Business Unit. Provides hands-on technical direction, drives verification best practices, and influences product and standards decisions.
Work involves defining verification strategies, leading cross-team efforts, mentoring engineers, and interfacing with executive leadership and external partners.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10+ years of relevant ASIC/VLSI verification or hardware design experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, review, and leadership across multiple ASIC projects.
- Define organization-wide VLSI verification architectures, methodologies, and standards.
- Develop and review verification plans, testbenches, coverage models, and metrics for complex integrated circuits.
- Evaluate designs and verification activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines.
- Provide technical leadership and accountability for multiple project teams and external development partners.
- Mentor and coach engineers; contribute to selection and development of future technical leaders.
- Identify emerging VLSI technologies, propose new projects, and influence product strategy and roadmaps.
- Present technical findings to executive leadership and standards groups.
Requirements
Key skills and experience required for success in this role.
- 10+ years of ASIC/VLSI verification or related hardware design experience.
- Expertise in digital logic, VLSI principles, and computer architecture.
- Proven mastery of verification methodologies and flows (e.g., UVM), hardware description languages, and scripting/programming (for example SystemVerilog, VHDL, Python, TCL).
- Practical experience with EDA and FPGA tool flows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with clear executive-level written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple teams and projects.
- Nice-to-have: history of patents, publications, technical presentations, or participation in industry standards bodies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical field; coursework in VLSI concepts may be expected. Equivalent practical experience is accepted.
