Principal ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Senior technical leader responsible for verification architecture, methodology and delivery for ASIC/VLSI projects across the business unit. Works with cross-functional teams to define verification strategy, influence design decisions, and drive verification best practices and standards.
This role provides technical leadership, mentors engineers, and evaluates emerging VLSI technologies for product direction and cost efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of relevant ASIC/VLSI verification or design experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, standards and technical leadership across multiple projects.
- Define organization-wide VLSI verification architectures, methodologies and flows across platforms.
- Provide technical leadership and accountability for multiple project teams and external partners.
- Review and evaluate designs and verification activities for compliance with technical and development standards.
- Influence executive and program-level technical decisions affecting product direction and cost.
- Identify emerging VLSI technologies and recommend new projects or process improvements.
- Mentor and develop less-experienced engineers and contribute to selection of future technical leaders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and attributes.
- 10+ years of ASIC/VLSI verification or design experience with demonstrated technical impact.
- Deep knowledge of digital logic, computer architecture, and VLSI design principles.
- Expertise in verification methodologies and flows; ability to define architecture and standards.
- Proficiency with hardware description languages, verification languages, scripting, and EDA/FPGA tools.
- Proven technical leadership, strong analytical/problem-solving skills, and executive-level communication.
- Track record of innovation (patents/publications) and delivering complex VLSI solutions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience influencing industry standards or working with outsourced development partners.
- Familiarity with Agile/ Scrum environments and cross-functional program leadership.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical field β or equivalent practical experience.
