Principal ASIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership for development of next-generation IOHUB IP that enables AMD products across server, data center, client, and embedded markets.
Work with architecture, design, verification, firmware, implementation, and product teams to convert requirements into silicon, influence technical strategy, and mentor engineering teams.

Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership and drive execution across architecture, design, implementation, and post-silicon phases.
- Own IOHUB IP development from architecture through tape-out and post-silicon validation.
- Partner with architects to define requirements and evaluate design trade-offs.
- Ensure designs meet functional, timing, area, power, security, and reliability targets.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration among design, verification, firmware, physical design, and product teams to meet program milestones.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and integration challenges early and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish and promote engineering best practices for reuse, maintainability, and scalability.
- Mentor engineers and lead architecture and implementation reviews.
- Drive post-silicon bring-up, validation, and root-cause analysis.
- Communicate technical direction, status, risks, and key decisions to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
- Champion automation and AI-assisted workflows to improve productivity and development velocity.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and leadership capabilities are listed below; preferred items are separated.
- Proven technical leadership on multiple ASIC/SoC projects with successful tape-outs.
- Deep RTL design and microarchitecture experience for complex IP in advanced SoC environments.
- Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
- Experience with simulation, synthesis, static analysis, lint, CDC/RDC, formal methods, and timing-closure methodologies.
- Experience driving post-silicon validation, debug, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to define technical strategy, evaluate trade-offs, and drive complex technical issues to resolution.
Nice-to-have:
- Scripting and automation experience (Python, Perl, Tcl) for design productivity improvements.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve design workflows and automation.
- Experience addressing power, security, scalability, and virtualization requirements in high-performance designs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related technical discipline desired.
