Role Summary
Principal engineer on the QuestaSim (simulation) R&D team responsible for architecting algorithms and software that power simulation tools within Siemens EDA. The role leads technical strategy for complex features, designs high-quality production components, and drives implementation from concept through delivery alongside senior engineering peers.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 15–25 years of professional software engineering experience, with proven experience architecting and delivering large-scale systems.
Responsibilities
Primary engineering and technical leadership responsibilities:
- Design and architect advanced algorithms and software solutions for simulation engines.
- Define problem scope, propose novel approaches, and implement end-to-end solutions for open-ended technical challenges.
- Develop and enhance production-quality components, improving performance and maintainability of existing codebases.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to diagnose and resolve complex software issues.
- Drive project milestones and deliverables with independent ownership and technical rigor.
- Promote continuous improvement in design and implementation practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; candidates should clearly demonstrate the following.
- Extensive experience architecting and implementing large-scale systems and software.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ and solid command of data structures and algorithms.
- Deep knowledge of compiler concepts and optimizations.
- Proven experience on UNIX/Linux platforms.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a record of delivering results independently.
- Familiarity with simulation or EDA tools and domains is desirable.
Education Requirements
