Principal Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical engagements and deliver emulation and verification solutions for complex SoC/ASIC projects. Work with customers and internal R&D to design emulation strategies, resolve technical issues, and drive product adoption.

Collaborate across product, field engineering, and customers to accelerate verification cycles and implement best practices for emulation workflows.

Experience Level

Senior — Principal level; typically 7+ years of relevant experience in emulation, hardware verification, or system architecture.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead customer engagements to define and implement emulation solutions and verification workflows.
• Design and deploy advanced emulation strategies for SoC and ASIC verification.
• Collaborate with R&D to influence product development and address customer requirements.
• Deliver technical presentations, training, and workshops for customers and internal teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex emulation and hardware–software integration issues.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

• Extensive hands-on experience with emulation platforms (e.g., Synopsys ZeBu, Mentor Veloce, Cadence Palladium).
• Strong knowledge of HDLs (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL) and verification methodologies (UVM).
• Experience debugging hardware/software interactions and optimizing verification environments.
• Solid understanding of SoC/ASIC architecture and design flows.
• Proficiency with scripting for automation (Python, Perl, TCL).

Nice-to-have:

• Experience leading customer-facing technical engagements and delivering training.
• Mentoring experience and strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
