Principal Analog Validation Engineer

Role Summary

The Principal Analog Validation Engineer is responsible for validating analog circuitry KPIs across platform products by developing automated parametric tests, measurement hardware requirements, and concise analysis and reports. The role works across design, test, software, and product teams to ensure measurement readiness and to debug silicon, board, and software interactions.

Experience Level

Senior - requires a minimum of 12 years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver and automate comprehensive analog validation from specification to summary reporting; prepare instrumentation and hardware before silicon arrives.

• Build parametric validation plans from electrical specifications.
• Develop software to configure the device under test (DUT) for required test cases.
• Create hardware automation sequences to measure parameters across process, voltage, temperature, and DUT configurations.
• Analyze parametric data, determine pass/fail/margins against specs, and generate summary reports.
• Collaborate with Design, Product & Test Engineering, Applications, Software, and Product Analysis to debug IP and system issues.
• Specify and recommend lab hardware and generate hardware design requirements; participate in schematic and layout reviews.
• Ensure instrumentation, test scripts, and validation boards are prepared prior to silicon arrival.

Requirements

• Must-have: Extensive experience with high-speed/RF lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BER testers, vector network analyzers, phase noise analyzers).
• Must-have: Strong C programming skills and experience developing automated test sequences and hardware control scripts.
• Must-have: Data analysis experience using tools such as Excel, JMP, and/or PowerBI to interpret parametric results.
• Must-have: Hardware debug skills, including schematic reading and signal integrity troubleshooting.
• Desirable: Experience with TestStand and Python.
• Desirable: Familiarity with SerDes validation and protocols such as Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) and PCI Express.
• Desirable: Experience using AI prompting to assist software generation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. The role specifies a minimum of 12 years of industry experience.
