Principal Analog Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for comprehensive validation of analog circuitry KPIs across platforms: design and execute automated measurements, analyze results against electrical specifications, and produce concise validation reports. Works closely with design, product, test engineering, applications, software, and product analysis teams.
Experience Level
Senior β minimum 12 years of industry experience.
Responsibilities
Key duties include planning, implementing, automating, and reporting parametric validation for analog blocks.
- Build parametric validation plans from electrical specifications.
- Develop software to configure the device under test (DUT) for required test cases.
- Create hardware automation sequences to perform parametric measurements across process, voltage, temperature (PVT), and DUT configurations.
- Analyze parametric data to determine pass/fail/margin relative to electrical specs and generate summary reports.
- Prepare and verify instrumentation, test boards, and automation scripts prior to silicon arrival.
- Interface with Design, Product & Test Engineering, Applications, Software, and Product Analysis teams to debug IP-related issues.
- Research and specify required lab hardware; produce hardware design requirements and participate in schematic and layout reviews.
Requirements
Required skills and preferred additions for candidates.
- Must-have: 12+ years experience in analog validation or equivalent lab/test roles; experience with high-speed/RF lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BER testers, vector network analyzers, phase noise analyzers); proficiency in C programming; data analysis experience with Excel, JMP, and/or PowerBI; hardware debug and schematic reading skills; strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Nice-to-have: TestStand and Python experience; familiarity with SerDes validation and Ethernet IEEE 802.3 protocols; experience using AI prompting for software generation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
