Principal Analog Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - TeraWave
Blue OriginJob Title
Principal Analog Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - TeraWave
Role Summary
Lead design and delivery of high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for the TeraWave satellite communications program. Work on filters, amplifiers, data converters, calibration, ESD protection, clocking, biasing and power management in advanced CMOS/SiGe processes.
Role is based onsite (San Diego preferred) with a secondary location in Cupertino; relocation assistance provided and travel expected up to 10%.
Experience Level
Senior level - requires extensive experience. The posting specifies 10+ years of relevant analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include circuit design, verification, integration, and production support for analog/mixed-signal blocks used in RF payloads and terminals.
- Lead design, development, and integration of analog/mixed-signal functions in advanced CMOS and SiGe technologies, optimizing performance and trade-offs.
- Develop and run mixed-signal simulations and flows (Spectre, AMS) to meet block- and system-level requirements.
- Collaborate with system architects to define block-level specs and interfaces for RF payload integration.
- Oversee layout coordination, top-level integration, floorplanning, verification, and tape-out activities.
- Work with validation and product teams to create test plans, support bring-up, debug silicon, and improve yield.
- Investigate and develop fundamental analog building blocks and mentor junior engineers on analog design practices.
- Participate in technical assessments as part of the interview process.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and eligibility requirements. Preferred items listed separately.
- 10+ years of experience designing high-performance analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits and systems.
- Deep expertise in data converters (ADCs/DACs) including delta-sigma, SAR, and pipeline topologies.
- Proficiency with mixed-mode and analog/RF modeling, simulation, and verification tools such as Spectre and MATLAB; experience with AMS flows.
- Strong understanding of electromigration and layout-dependent effects on circuit performance, particularly in advanced FinFET technologies.
- Extensive experience in silicon characterization, debugging, and bring-up.
- Experience with analog/RF building blocks: amplifiers, filters, oscillators, reference generation, and low-dropout regulators.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (export control requirement).
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is specified. Advanced degrees (MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related fields) are listed as preferred.
