Job Title
Principal Analog Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Optical Team responsible for design and validation of high-speed analog/mixed-signal ICs used in optical interfaces for data center and telecom applications. Focus areas include transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), drivers for silicon photonics and discrete modulators, and related broadband analog front-end circuits.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10β15 years of industry experience in high-speed RF/analog receiver or TIA design, or 5+ years for candidates with advanced technical qualifications.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership and hands-on circuit design across RF and broadband analog domains.
- Lead design and validation of multi-tens-of-GHz transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and high-speed drivers.
- Develop transmission-line and millimeter-wave structures to extend bandwidth and performance.
- Design high-performance broadband analog circuits (e.g., equalizers, AGC loops, linear regulators, sensors, bandgaps).
- Create microarchitecture for major circuit blocks and guide implementation by the design team.
- Perform post-silicon validation, correlate measurements to simulations, and support qualification and production transition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system and package integration and customer support.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior designers, and where required act as chip lead through tape-out to production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed after.
-
Must-have: Proven IC design experience including tape-out and lab evaluation of receiver/TIA designs.
- Strong transistor-level analog/RF design skills and deep understanding of device physics.
- Experience with EDA CAD tools and analog custom-layout practices.
- Ability to measure IC performance, debug silicon, and correlate measurements with simulation.
- Expertise in control/feedback loop stability analysis and high-frequency circuit techniques.
- Practical experience with SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS technologies or similar high-speed processes.
- Experience guiding teams, defining microarchitecture, and driving designs to production.
- Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
-
Nice-to-have: CTLE design, AGC/GC loop design, high-precision analog blocks (linear regulators, current sensors, bandgaps), package-system integration experience, prior chip-lead or mass-production success.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 10β15 years of relevant high-speed RF/analog receiver/TIA design experience; or Master of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience. Fields of study referenced: Electrical Engineering with focus on RF/analog and receiver/TIA design. (Degree-level options and associated experience expectations are taken from the posting.)
