Principal Analog / Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead the design and verification of advanced low-power analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-performance computing applications. Work within the IC design team to deliver circuits such as PLLs, power management units, and novel power-clocking architectures that meet strict power, performance, and yield targets.
Provide technical direction across circuit development, layout guidance for advanced process nodes, and engineering mentorship to improve design quality and manufacturability.
Experience Level
Senior - the role targets experienced principal-level engineers. The posting indicates ~15+ years of relevant mixed-signal and high-performance IC experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on development, verification, and architectural input for analog/mixed-signal blocks.
- Drive design of mixed-signal circuits including PLLs, PMUs, and power-clocking architectures to meet power and performance goals.
- Research and implement advanced energy-recovery and charge-sharing techniques to reduce power consumption.
- Characterize and maintain standard-cell and mixed-signal libraries; incorporate mixed-signal behaviors for design flexibility.
- Provide layout oversight to minimize parasitics and leakage in sub-10nm process nodes.
- Perform high-sigma OCV and variability analysis using SPICE-class tools to ensure robust operation and high yield.
- Provide architectural guidance to optimize power-performance tradeoffs across analog and mixed-signal units.
- Lead complex projects, set technical direction, and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; a short list of preferred additions follows.
- Proven track record in analog and mixed-signal IC design for high-performance applications.
- Deep expertise in low-power design principles and techniques.
- Practical experience with EDA/verification tools such as Spectre, HSPICE, ICADV, and AMS.
- Experience performing high-sigma OCV and variability analysis on advanced process nodes.
- Hands-on experience with layout-aware design and minimizing parasitics/leakage at sub-10nm nodes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Nice-to-have: prior work on energy-recovery / charge-sharing circuits, power-clocking architectures, or industry-specific toolchains.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics is highly valued; equivalent expert-level practical experience will also be considered. Fields: electrical engineering, physics, or closely related technical disciplines; equivalent industry experience accepted.
