Principal Analog Design Engineer
QorvoJob Title
Principal Analog Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead architecture, transistor-level design, and validation of high-performance analog power management integrated circuits (PMICs, DC-DC converters, battery management) within the Power Management division. Work cross-functionally with system, layout, test, and global design teams to deliver efficient, reliable silicon for mobile, consumer, IoT, and industrial applications.
Experience Level
Senior. Requires extensive industry experience: the posting requests 12+ years of engineering experience (or equivalent) including 8+ years in analog and mixed-signal IC design focused on power converter architectures and control methods.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership across design, validation, and production release.
- Lead design and development of analog power management ICs with emphasis on efficiency, power density, robustness, and manufacturability.
- Define product architecture and specifications in collaboration with system engineers, balancing performance, power, and cost.
- Select and implement optimal circuit topologies and control methodologies (voltage-mode, current-mode) for DC-DC converters.
- Perform transistor-level design, simulation, and validation to meet functional and performance targets.
- Work with layout engineers to optimize floorplanning and minimize parasitics for silicon performance.
- Coordinate with global design teams and partners to align development strategy and execution.
- Partner with test and characterization engineers to define validation methods, resolve issues, and optimize production test strategies.
- Lead technical reviews and produce design documentation that explains decisions, analyses, and trade-offs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience are listed first; preferred items are separate.
- 12+ years of engineering experience in the semiconductor industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of analog and mixed-signal IC design experience, including DC-DC power converter architectures and control techniques.
- Experience with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workflows and tools for parasitic extraction, EMIR analysis, capacitive coupling, and floating-node diagnostics.
- Proven experience with production release of power management ICs.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Simplis, and ADS.
- Hands-on lab experience supporting high-frequency switching power supplies.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Preferred: Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal degrees (e.g., combined education and experience may substitute).
