Job Title

Principal, Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Principal engineer in the DRAM Design Engineering Group responsible for designing and delivering block-level analog and mixed-signal circuits for memory products. Works with global design, verification, layout, and product teams to move circuit designs from concept to silicon and to improve product performance, quality, and reliability.

Experience Level

Senior. Preferred experience: MSEE + 8 years or BSEE + 10 years of mixed-signal/analog IC design. Minimum semiconductor design or manufacturing experience: 2+ years (see Education Requirements for degree details).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include circuit design, verification, and silicon correlation for DRAM projects.

  • Design, optimize, and verify block-level analog and mixed-signal circuits for DRAM projects.
  • Propose and evaluate new or improved circuit topologies to enhance power, performance, area, and cost (PPAC).
  • Improve design verification scope and coverage to increase circuit robustness and production yield.
  • Provide layout guidance and perform post-layout simulation and analysis.
  • Compare silicon performance with simulation results and support correlation activities.
  • Operate with minimal supervision and define solutions and methods independently.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where applicable.

  • Must-have: Solid circuit design fundamentals and demonstrated silicon success in mixed-signal or analog IC design.
  • Must-have: Experience designing regulators, charge pumps, oscillators, current references, bandgaps, or comparators.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with SPICE and Verilog modeling and simulation.
  • Must-have: Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams and working across global teams.
  • Must-have: Ability to perform post-layout simulation, provide layout guidance, and support silicon correlation.
  • Nice-to-have: 10+ years of mixed-signal or analog IC design experience (preferred level for senior roles).
  • Nice-to-have: 5+ years of circuit debugging experience with cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong experience with UNIX and the Cadence design environment (schematic, simulation, SPF extraction).
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Synopsys tools.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of semiconductor design or manufacturing experience. Preferred: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with ~8+ years or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with ~10+ years of mixed-signal/analog IC design experience. No specific certifications were listed.
