Principal Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead design and delivery of high-performance PLLs, clock generation, distribution and synchronization circuits for advanced SoCs and mixed-signal products. Drive projects from architecture and specification through transistor-level implementation, silicon bring-up, validation and production.

Senior - typically 12+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience (posting indicates 12–18 years).

Responsibilities

Accountable for end-to-end analog design execution and technical leadership.

  • Architect, design and verify high-performance PLLs, clock generation, distribution and synchronization circuits.
  • Define specifications and execute transistor-level implementation and performance verification.
  • Lead silicon bring-up, characterization, validation, ATE testing and yield improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with system, digital, layout, validation and product teams on interfaces, calibration and verification strategies.
  • Drive reliability, EMC/ESD compliance and robustness activities.
  • Lead design reviews, debug silicon issues and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • 12+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience with strong expertise in PLL and clocking architectures.
  • Transistor-level design experience with VCOs, charge pumps, phase/frequency detectors, loop filters, clock buffers, bandgap/current references, op-amps and LDOs.
  • Deep understanding of jitter, phase noise, clock synchronization, timing recovery, EMC/ESD, reliability and silicon robustness.
  • Hands-on experience with Cadence Virtuoso, ADE, Spectre/SPICE or equivalent EDA environments.
  • Experience in silicon characterization, validation, ATE and yield improvement activities.
  • Knowledge of advanced CMOS/FinFET technologies and analog layout considerations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical reviews, debug silicon issues and mentor junior engineers.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with high-speed SerDes, Ethernet PHYs or timing-intensive mixed-signal systems.
