Job Title
Principal Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Join Marvell's Central Engineering group to lead analog and mixed-signal CMOS transceiver/SERDES design for high-performance data infrastructure products. The role focuses on architecting and implementing precision analog and mixed-signal circuits, driving designs from specification through silicon validation, and coordinating with digital, SOC, test, and field teams.
Experience Level
Senior — experience guidance: approximately 10–15 years of relevant industry experience (typical for candidates with a bachelor's degree) or 5–10 years for candidates with an advanced degree.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, integration, and validation of analog/mixed-signal building blocks and subsystems.
- Architect and design advanced CMOS transceiver/SERDES products and mixed-signal circuits (PLLs, DLLs, ADCs, regulators, amplifiers, TX/RX, CDRs).
- Perform circuit-level design and simulation using SPICE/Spectre and MATLAB; iterate designs to meet specifications.
- Execute or supervise layout and physical-design activities in advanced process technologies and support DRC/LVS closure.
- Plan and perform lab characterization, debug, and silicon validation; collaborate with test engineers on bring-up.
- Generate design documentation, specifications, and handoffs for integration teams.
- Interface with digital and SoC teams for design integration, cross-domain verification, and system-level optimization.
- Support customers and field application engineers on technical issues and product integration when required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role.
- Strong knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS technologies and device behavior at advanced nodes.
- Hands-on experience designing mixed-signal circuits including ADCs, DACs, RX/TX stages, PLLs, filters, and voltage regulators.
- Experience with low-power and high-speed analog design techniques.
- Proficiency with IC design and simulation tools such as Spectre, SPICE, MATLAB; familiarity with HSPICE/Hsim and Verilog for mixed-signal contexts.
- Practical lab testing skills for prototype evaluation and characterization against specifications.
- Experience with layout, physical-design flow, and working with foundry process design kits for nanometric technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with ~10–15 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree or PhD in a similar field with ~5–10 years of relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
