Job Title

Principal AI & Compute Engineer, Workforce Development

Role Summary

The Principal AI & Compute Engineer will define technical pathways, standards, labs, and specialist inputs for Arm's Workforce Development programs in AI and compute. The role spans Arm-based compute, SoC design, computer architecture, AI hardware, embedded systems, hardware–software co-design, and systems performance.

This position partners with engineering teams, academic and industry partners, and internal specialists to ensure program technical credibility and reusability.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Principal).

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and define the technical backbone for Workforce Development offerings focused on Arm-based AI and compute.

  • Define technical pathways, audiences, entry requirements, capability outcomes, labs, practical activities, and acceptance criteria.
  • Design and review labs, practical assets, and technical briefs to ensure technical accuracy and reusability.
  • Assess reuse versus new development, and commission specialist inputs where required.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, partners, institutions, and subject-matter experts to shape priorities and deliverables.
  • Provide technical judgment on where Workforce Development can deliver outcomes versus where deeper engineering expertise is required.
  • Review source content and materials for alignment with Arm technologies and industry best practice.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to deliver the role.

  • Proven engineering experience with Arm-relevant technologies (Arm architecture, Cortex, SoC design, embedded systems, or hardware–software co-design).
  • Deep technical credibility in at least one Arm-relevant domain and sufficient breadth to work across adjacent areas (platform software, AI hardware, cloud AI infrastructure, semiconductor design, performance optimization).
  • Familiarity with practical workflows for Arm-based systems: toolchains, debugging, profiling, simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, or platform bring-up.
  • Understanding of SoC and AI compute concepts, including IP integration, verification, EDA flows, inference performance, benchmarking, and workload characterization.
  • Experience shaping technical programs, applied labs, capability frameworks, or industry-linked workforce development initiatives.
  • Strong written communication, judgement, and the ability to create structure from ambiguity.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with Arm IP and tools (Neoverse, CMSIS, Keil, Corstone) or Arm-based platforms.
  • Experience in SoC design, FPGA prototyping, RTL or verification, silicon bring-up, edge AI, or performance analysis.
  • Experience commissioning or reviewing technical assets produced by universities, contractors, or external partners.

Education Requirements

Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical experience. Equivalent practical experience accepted.
